Palmetto Bluff is, perhaps, the premier community of the South Carolina Lowcountry. This community is developing upon 20,000 acres of prime bluff property overlooking the May River. It was purchased by Crescent Communities in 2000, which became known later as the Palmetto Bluff Company. Built atop the ruins of an antebellum mansion, the community is home to the renowned Montage Resort. The homes in Palmetto Bluff reflect the architectural style of the South Carolina Lowcountry, and the town is designed in the character of a pre-war country village, with a town square, restaurant, marina, and shops. Residents enjoy a wide range of activities including equestrian, golf, tennis, shooting and hunting, and fishing and boating.
